Hebden configurations and core notation pp.155-158

Use this alongside Hebden configurations and core notation pp.155-158. Assigned references: p.155 #26, p.156 #27, p.157 #28, p.158 #29.

p.155 #26 · p.156 #27 · p.157 #28 · p.158 #29

The exact four assigned exercises

26: full configurations. 27: core notation for the same elements. 28: ion configurations in core notation. 29: valence counts in this electronic-structure section. Keep these separate from the later reactive-electron convention.

Core and ion conventions

For a noble gas, use the preceding lower noble gas as its core. Cr and Cu use the taught half-filled/filled d exceptions. For cations remove highest-n electrons first, including outer s before inner d; anions gain electrons in filling order.
